Six fortnightly sprints. Each one lists what should be acquired (can-do statements), a practice target, and a 1–4 self-check. Physics HL (Higher Level) and Maths AA SL (Analysis and Approaches, Standard Level) lead the plan (technology route); the other subjects and the Core (Theory of Knowledge, Creativity-Activity-Service and the Extended Essay) are kept on a steady, lighter track.
The plan uses sensible defaults where these answers are missing. Each answer makes the checklists more accurate.
| Day | Subject | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Thu 15 Oct | International Literature SL | 13:30 |
| Fri 16 Oct | Maths AA SL (Analysis and Approaches) | 12:30 |
| Mon 19 Oct | Physics HL | 11:30–12:30 |
| Wed 21 Oct | History SL | 11:30–12:30 |
| Fri 23 Oct | Business Management HL | 8:00 |
English B and TOK (Theory of Knowledge) do not appear on the partials calendar: ask the teachers whether they assess in class instead.
UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia) converts the IB grades: it takes the six subject grades, adds 3 points to each, and averages them. A 7 becomes 10, a 6 becomes 9, a 5 becomes 8, a 4 becomes 7. TOK, EE and CAS bonus points do not count here.
So History SL and Literature SL weigh exactly as much as Physics HL. Example: 6, 7, 5, 4, 6, 4 → 9, 10, 8, 7, 9, 7 → access grade 8.33.
Access grade plus up to two subjects from the specific phase of the PAU (university entrance exams), each weighted 0.1 or 0.2 depending on the degree. IB students may sit: Mathematics, Mathematics for Social Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Business (Empresa), Biology. Example: 8.33 + 0.2 × 8 + 0.2 × 9 = 11.73.
Physics, Maths and Business are all on that list. Check which two weigh 0.2 for the degrees he is considering.
How to study, not what to study. Open any panel; nothing here needs ticking.
A note-taking layout from Cornell University that turns every page of class notes into a self-test.
Where it works best: History, Business, English and Literature notes, and the theory parts of Physics and Maths. For long calculations, use the practice pages instead.
From Dunlosky et al. (2013), a review of 10 common study techniques rated by how much they improve results.
Close the book and write down everything you remember, then check. Do questions before re-reading the chapter, and try each worked example yourself before reading the solution. Flashcards count.
Three 40-minute sessions across a week beat one 2-hour session. Revisit a topic after about a day, a week, and three weeks. Anki does this scheduling automatically.
Mix 3–4 topics in one problem set and hide the topic labels, so you have to choose the method yourself. It feels harder and works better, especially in maths and physics.
After each step of a solution, ask "why does this step work?" and answer in one sentence. Explaining to someone else is the strongest version.
They feel productive but do little. Turn highlights into questions on flashcards, and after reading a page, close it and recall the main points.
Methods, not rules. Your school's CAS coordinator, TOK teacher and EE supervisor have the final say.

Cómo estudiar, no qué estudiar.
